Tomorrow in… 1988

From my 9th grade English class journal… 05/23/1988

(name withheld)-Bitch never called me and as it turns out I could have gone with Mel! I’m ticked. C-ya. OK, I’m not done. I’m wearing my Cinderella T-shirt I got at the Mall Saturday when I got my glasses. OK, well, now c-ya.

I took out the actual name of “Bitch” to protect the traiterous friend. I believe this entry referred to a gig by the local band whose drummer I was obsessed with at that time. One friend said she’d go with me then never called. I found out Monday (this day) that another friend, nicknamed “Mel” could have gone – had I known to call her…. I was going to consult my actual 9th grade diary for more information, but alas there’s really nothing there except more griping.

I cannot find a picture of the Cinderella T-shirt I bought that weekend, but it was acquired from Spencer gifts and I think the image on the front was similar to the cover of their (at that time) recently-released debut album, “Night Songs.”

I believe the back had an outline of the United States and referred to “shaking”…

And my glasses? They were pink! That’s all you need to know. ;)

“I Can’t Take It”

Saw this video on VH1 Classics yesterday. I do love Cheap Trick. Robin Zander is one of my all-time favorite singers. But, ohmygod. I hadn’t seen this video before. I can see why they didn’t push it much! The song is great despite the fact that this is the years Tom Petersson was missing. But this video is… ack! I know there was animosity between Robin and Rick, but threatening murder? LOL And the end, like the whole video is just… weird.

Apologies for the stupid intro to the vid. This is the best version I could find! Enjoy!
